January marks the beginning of a new year and in many ways signals a new beginning, a starting over, an opportunity for improvement.
There are four things that everyone should do at the beginning of the new year:
…. One:…. Do not dwell on the past. ” — But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on …. ” (Philippians 3: 13,14a) Do not dwell on past successes or failures, especially the failures.
….Two…. Do not take the future for granted. ” Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day will bring forth.” (Proverbs 27: 1) Also, ” Do not worry about tomorrow…” (Matthew 6: 34a). We know the past. We do not know the future; however, God does and we may trust Him to guide us.
….Three …. In all that you do each day, do it with diligence ” A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.” (Proverbs 10: 4) Also, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not men.” (Colossians 3: 23)
….Four…. Do not go into the new year alone: go with God. ” So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41: 10)
May 2026 be a year of new successes and personal prosperity for you and your family.
