THE PATRON SAINT OF LOVE: GOD

In 496 A.D., POPE GELASIUS set aside February 14 to honor a Roman priest by the name of Valentine. Saint Valentine became the Patron Saint of Love. Today we observe February 14 as Valentine’s Day. However, the true Patron Saint of Love is God Himself.

It was the love of God 5000 years ago when God provided an ark for Noah and his family by which they escaped the devastating judgment of sin and preserved the seed of mankind (Gen 7:15).

It was the love of God that 2700 years ago God promised through the Prophet Isaiah that “The virgin will conceive and be with child and will give birth to a Son and will call him Emmanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).

It was the love of God that 2000 years ago “… gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

It was the love of God that Jesus was willing to be “… the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).

And it is because of love that God waits patiently for men everywhere to “…repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds” (Acts 26:20).

However, love extended must be received. Have you received this gift of love? If not right now ask God for forgiveness and for guidance in the future. If you have further questions and need help to understand, please contact your pastor or me at RERj56@gmail.com
