If you make the right choice your treasure can be both here and there.
” Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21)
The bottom-line question here is not where your treasure is, but rather where your heart is. The Bible says “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? ” (Jeremiah 17: 9).
Therefore, do not trust your heart in this matter. Trust what Jesus said In Matthew 6:33: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you.”
I have many friends who are wealthy and successful in this life and who also have treasures waiting them in heaven. They have all made the right decision.
Also, the Bible is very clear on this issue in that the Father wants his children to enjoy the blessings bestowed upon them: ” …… charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasures for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.” (1 Timothy 6 17 – 19)
My prayer for you is that you will realize the transitory-ness of all you possess, enjoy what you possess, put God first in your life, and when you have opportunity, send it on ahead.
